Mary Kostas, 13 years old, designed and built a Lego model rover with a drill to extract metal. The drill will be a percussive rotary drill which is ideal for space mining on Psyche. She added three drill bits as three additional features: coring, regolith and abrader.The model is a small version of the solar powered rover with the features stated before. She will use the main round metal tool fitted with a cutting tool attachment to penetrate by making a hole, rotate while pressing to extract iron and nickel. The drill is on the bottom of the rover because it can mine straight down. The two other bits will be laser cutting tool to cut the metal.The drill cuts the metal and puts it aside.
