Spiraling Hope

Foot-by-foot concentric organic shapes are stacked and spiraling towards the viewer in pinks, oranges and golds leading towards the gray, 3D printed Psyche Asteroid. Dry brushed pinks and gold follow the contour lines of the 3D print.

About the work: Psyche: coming to a planet near you. I wanted to experiment with the way we represent Psyche now and the very distinct shape it has before we eventually see it face-to-face as it spirals towards the viewer. Taking inspiration from topography and contour maps, the 3D printed asteroid—dry brushed in blushes and metallics—features a rosy idea for what could be on this lonely asteroid object.

Trajectory: Ready, Set, Go.

This piece shows trajectory lines framing Psyche. The project highlights the asteroid and shows the Psyche orbiter dancing with the space object. Black, purple and pink clouds were painted with rosy golds to create visual interest. Psyche is painted in the middle towards the right with rings of gold around it, signifying paths the Psyche orbiter might take. Spray paint gold was used to make speckled stars and clouds of gold in the background.

About the work: A shaped canvas highlights the trajectory lines framing Psyche. For this project, Julia wanted to highlight the asteroid itself and show the Psyche orbiter dancing with the space object itself. Black, purple and pink hazed clouds were painted with rosy golds laid over areas to create visual interest.
