Project Description

For this capstone project, the goal was to make material selection for 1500 kg of fasteners with the following properties as per JPL:

    • Specific mechanical properties to exceed those of A286 stainless steel
    • Relative Magnetic Permeability near 1 to reduce noise in magnetometer data
    • Negligible Nickel content to reduce noise in spectrometer data
    • Short Lead Time
