PROJECT DESCRIPTION

As the launch date of August 2022 draws closer, the Psyche mission is looking to increase the public’s awareness and excitement for this journey. They are looking for a 3D experience that museum visitors can interact with to achieve this goal. We have built our application to fulfill this purpose using the Three.js 3D library along with the WebXR API. WebXR allows users to enter a VR or AR world inside their own browsers on their mobile phone. We have used these tools to build a fun and informative environment that provides museum visitors with a meaningful experience that teaches them about the mission.

This work was created in partial fulfillment of Penn State Behrend Capstone Course “SWENG480/CMPSC485”. The work is a result of the Psyche Student Collaborations component of NASA’s Psyche Mission (https://psyche.asu.edu). “Psyche: A Journey to a Metal World” [Contract number NNM16AA09C] is part of the NASA Discovery Program mission to solar system targets.
