Psyche Multispectral Imager: Green Filter
Psyche’s first filters have arrived! The image shows an example of one of the glass color filters that will go into the rectangular holes in the filter wheel. This one is a green filter (wavelength of 550 nm, about the same color as the green “filters” in the color receptors known as cones our own eyes), and it is about 3/4 of an inch (18 mm) wide and 0.12 inches (3 mm) thick. The filters are being manufactured by a company named Materion Precision Optics in Westford, Massachusetts, and the photo was taken by Mike Ravine, Psyche’s Instrument Manager at Malin Space Science Systems in San Diego, California.
