About the work: For my third piece, I wanted to create an illustration based on the mythology of Psyche, and depict her in a dramatic yet delicate scene being illuminated by the 16 Psyche asteroid behind her. She is also being surrounded by butterflies as they are flying toward the asteroid. Psyche is often associated with butterflies which is why I included them in this piece. I painted this piece digitally using the Procreate application. I created thumbnails, multiple drafts, until finally deciding on a composition which I then brought to completion.
