“Textures Of Psyche” explores the mysterious Psyche asteroid and what it may look like. Journeys into space are full of exciting and unknown possibilities that always defy our expectations, and each of these images aim to capture the scope of what our future images of Psyche might be.
"Metal World Essentials" is a layflat design of some of the materials associated with the Psyche mission, including merchandise, models, and some scientific instruments. This piece was made digitally with Procreate using dry ink and half tone brushes.

The Psyche spacecraft is portrayed as an android with human features, wearing a paper crown and a serene expression. It sits in a small, minimal room draped in thick cloth, and lifts the obscuring cloth from models of Earth and Mars. On a dresser is a model Falcon Heavy in a bottle, and a framed picture of Earth from orbit. A picture of the asteroid hangs from the wall with a festive garland.
The View On Board places the audience onto the spacecraft as it approaches 16 Psyche. The painting depicts an ordinary living room with Taters sitting on a sofa and a centerpiece with the lucky peanuts sitting on top. At the center is a larger window through which the viewer can see a close up of the Psyche asteroid as it floats through space. A telescope and solar system model frames the window.
“Cosmic Messengers” is an oil painting depicting the 16 Psyche asteroid in false colors (pink and purple). There are several vertical lines representing energy signatures of different precious metal isotopes found on 16 Psyche’s surface, which show the asteroid with inverted coloring. The Iron and Nickel lines are highlighted, with Iron-54 in red and Nickel-60 and Nickel-58 in green.

Unearthing Psyche is a colored pencil on a wooden panel, depicting Psyche digging through the inner layers of Earth towards the asteroid at its center. Psyche is shown dragging swirls of blue and green with it as it reaches the asteroid. Psyche 16 asteroid is shown in colorful hues at Earth’s center.
A little prince draped in a gold scarf and dressed in green stands on an asteroid scarcely larger than himself. The prince looks small compared to the vast sea of stars and the rocks that surround him. The asteroid gleams in metallic silver ink contrasted by purple and blue shadows, which reach into numerous craters on the surface.
Psyche stands dressed in a funeral gown, and holding a bouquet of flowers. She wears a blindfold, her head tilted downward, and her shoulders are slumped as an arrow pierces her heart. Overlaid on top of this image, is another version of Psyche. She stands tall and confident as she meets the gaze of a monstrous serpent. Butterfly wings sprout from her back, a symbol of her newly achieved godhood.
